Unintelligent causes include the natural actions of physics and chemistry, operating alone by
natural laws in space and time. Unintelligent causes cannot produce true design, so Darwinists
dismiss the evident design in nature as apparent design.
Intelligent causes include the actions of an intelligent agent (which may be unknown, such as in
anonymous works of art, or in archeological finds) manipulating physics and chemistry to create
something that physics and chemistry alone cannot. Only intelligent causes can produce true
design.
There are only two possible answers to the question, Where do we come from? Either:
|
Objectivity = no limiting philosophical presuppositions (such as "only unintelligent causes are permitted", which is the philosophical presupposition of naturalism/materialism).
Objectivity = Constitutional neutrality (in United States).
Objectivity = practicing the scientific method by letting evidence lead the inquiry, not vice versa.
Objectivity = evidence-based hypotheses regardless of the religious implications (because both Darwinism and Intelligent Design have religious implications).
|
- We are solely the result of an unintelligent, unguided,
unplanned process (e.g., Darwinism, as explained in a
recent letter from 38 Nobel Laureates to the Kansas State
Board of Education), or,
- We are the result of an intelligently manipulated
process.
The first includes Darwinism, which is the "no intelligent causation" hypothesis.
The second is Intelligent Design, which is the "intelligent causation" hypothesis.

Origins: A Question of Objectivity . . . What inferences can be drawn from the observed, material evidence? Objectivity results from using the scientific method without demanding limiting philosophic assumptions in seeking to answer the question: Where do we come from?
|
|
Origins: An Evidentiary Question . . . Origins science presents a simple evidentiary question. Like any other attempt to reconstruct a past event (or series of events), origins science asks what hypotheses can be reasonably inferred from observation of present-day material evidence.
|
|
Origins: Evidence together with Objectivity leads to truth . . . Virtually all scientists, including evolutionists, observe design in nature. Fossils exhibit design. Living body plans exhibit design. Micro-biological features such as DNA exhibit design.
|
|
Origins: A scientific question . . . Because all scientists, including evolutionists, observe design in nature, it is a scientific question to ask what is the cause of this design.
|
|
The evidentiary question is not one of the existence of design in nature, but the cause of design in nature.
